This is Matthew Carney. He was 42 years old. An ILLEGAL was stealing tools from Carneys pickup truck outside of the restaurant he owned. Carney came out confronted him and attempted to stop him. He then proceeded to drive into Matthew, who was critically injured and later died. The ILLEGAL was also wanted on an outstanding auto theft warrant. These are the people Democrats protest FOR. They don't care about their victims. And sadly, these defenders of those who are here illegally also include Catholic bishops and pastors.

Carney was beloved in Nashville by patrons of his restaurant and everyone who knew him.

From WZTV in Nashville: "ICE confirms a man accused of killing a popular restaurant owner is an illegal immigrant. Court records show he has had a previous run in with the law in Davidson County, but somehow his immigration status failed to raise red flags.

"Ulises Raigoz-Martinez was charged with the death of Smokin Thighs owner Matthew Carney after he died on July 4 from a hit-and-run crash at his restaurant. That hit and run happened on June 19, according to police.

"Now Martinez faces several charges including criminal homicide."

Trump Outlines Plan After Supreme Court Ruling

The Supreme Court’s Ruling on TARIFFS is deeply disappointing! I am ashamed of certain Members of the Court for not having the Courage to do what is right for our Country. I would like to thank and congratulate Justices Thomas, Alito, and Kavanaugh for your Strength, Wisdom, and Love of our Country, which is right now very proud of you. When you read the dissenting opinions, there is no way that anyone can argue against them. Foreign Countries that have been ripping us off for years are ecstatic, and dancing in the streets — But they won’t be dancing for long! The Democrats on the Court are thrilled, but they will automatically vote “NO” against ANYTHING that makes America Strong and Healthy Again. They, also, are a Disgrace to our Nation. Others think they’re being “politically correct,” which has happened before, far too often, with certain Members of this Court when, in fact, they’re just FOOLS and “LAPDOGS” for the RINOS and Radical Left Democrats and, not that this should have anything to do with it, very unpatriotic, and disloyal to the Constitution. It is my opinion that the Court has been swayed by Foreign Interests, and a Political Movement that is far smaller than people would think — But obnoxious, ignorant, and loud!
 
This was an important case to me, more as a symbol of Economic and National Security, than anything else. The Good News is that there are methods, practices, Statutes, and other Authorities, as recognized by the entire Court and Congress, that are even stronger than the IEEPA TARIFFS, available to me as President of the United States of America and, in actuality, I was very modest in my “ask” of other Countries and Businesses because I wanted to do nothing that could sway the decision that has been rendered by the Court.
 
I have very effectively utilized TARIFFS over the past year to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Our Stock Market has just recently broken the 50,000 mark on the DOW and, simultaneously, 7,000 on the S&P, two numbers that everybody thought, upon our Landslide Election Victory, could not be attained until the very end of my Administration — Four years! TARIFFS have, likewise, been used to end five of the eight Wars that I settled, have given us Great National Security and, together with our Strong Border, reduced Fentanyl coming into our Country by 30%, when I use them as a penalty against Countries illegally sending this poison to us. All of those TARIFFS remain, but other alternatives will now be used to replace the ones that the Court incorrectly rejected.

To show you how ridiculous the opinion is, the Court said that I’m not allowed to charge even $1 DOLLAR to any Country under IEEPA, I assume to protect other Countries, not the United States which they should be interested in protecting — But I am allowed to cut off any and all Trade or Business with that same Country, even imposing a Foreign Country destroying embargo, and do anything else I want to do to them — How nonsensical is that? They are saying that I have the absolute right to license, but not the right to charge a license fee. What license has ever been issued without the right to charge a fee? But now the Court has given me the unquestioned right to ban all sorts of things from coming into our Country, a much more powerful Right than many people thought we had.
 
Our Country is the “HOTTEST” anywhere in the World, but now, I am going in a different direction, which is even stronger than our original choice. As Justice Kavanaugh wrote in his Dissent:
 
“Although I firmly disagree with the Court's holding today, the decision might not substantially constrain a President's ability to order tariffs going forward. That is because numerous other federal statutes authorize the President to impose tariffs and might justify most (if not all) of the tariffs issued in this case...Those statutes include, for example, the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 (Section 232); the Trade Act of 1974 (Sections 122, 201, and 301); and the Tariff Act of 1930 (Section 338).”

In actuality, while I am sure they did not mean to do so, the Supreme Court’s decision today made a President’s ability to both regulate Trade, and impose TARIFFS, more powerful and crystal clear, rather than less. There will no longer be any doubt, and the Income coming in, and the protection of our Companies and Country, will actually increase because of this decision. Based on longstanding Law and Hundreds of Victories to the contrary, the Supreme Court did not overrule TARIFFS, they merely overruled a particular use of IEEPA TARIFFS. The ability to block, embargo, restrict, license, or impose any other condition on a Foreign Country’s ability to conduct Trade with the United States under IEEPA, has been fully confirmed by this decision. In order to protect our Country, a President can actually charge more TARIFFS than I was charging in the past under the various other TARIFF authorities, which have also been confirmed, and fully allowed.
 
Therefore, effective immediately, all National Security TARIFFS, Section 232 and existing Section 301 TARIFFS, remain in place, and in full force and effect. Today I will sign an Order to impose a 10% GLOBAL TARIFF, under Section 122, over and above our normal TARIFFS already being charged, and we are also initiating several Section 301 and other Investigations to protect our Country from unfair Trading practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Let’s face it: thousands of New Jerseyans voted for Mikie Sherrill last November because they actually, truly believed that she was going to “freeze” their skyrocketing utility bills. Nothing Sherrill has accomplished over the last few weeks suggests she’s serious about helping the New Jerseyans who literally pay the bills.

On Tuesday, the Sherrill Administration announced that it is initiating a pilot program funded by the American Water Charitable Foundation. The plan? “[P]rovide 1,250 New Jersey families enrolled in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program – primarily in Camden County – to receive a one-time $200 grant to help pay their utility bills.”

“My Administration is committed to exploring every option at our disposal to drive down utility costs for New Jersey families,” said Governor Mikie Sherrill. “This pilot program targeting WIC enrollees is a great example of the innovative solutions we are bringing to our mission of delivering direct relief for those most in need.”

Catholics' Newest Saint Has An App!

As the world has just celebrated Valentine’s Day, The Saint Carlo Acutis Shrine & Center for Eucharistic Encounter announces the launch of a new mobile app dedicated to sharing Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist. 

Developed in collaboration with Antonia Acutis, mother of St. Carlo Acutis, the App brings together mobile-ready documented stories of the Eucharistic miracles chronicled by Saint Carlo in his Eucharistic Miracles of the World International Exhibition, alongside “Live Like Carlo,” an interactive journey through the defining moments of Carlo’s life, and also a dedicated space for online Eucharistic Adoration from chapels around the world — inviting users into a deeper encounter with Christ’s Real Presence. 

While Valentine’s Day traditionally focuses on human love, the App invites users to reflect on what the Shrine calls “the greatest love story ever told” — Christ’s enduring presence in the Eucharist. 

Carlo Acutis, who died in 2006 at the age of 15, used technology to catalog and promote Eucharistic miracles that had been investigated and approved by the Church, many of which were also subjected to scientific examination. Chuck Presidents Day? But why? Oh, it has nothing to do with the current president or likely 2028 presidential candidates. No, it's bigger than that.

Let's start with a question.Quick: Why is today a holiday?

What do we observe on this day?
Why is the holiday February 16 this year when it was some other date last year?

Do you know the traditionally accepted date of Washington’s birth? And what really is the relationship, if any, between Washington’s birthday and the birthday of Abraham Lincoln? It all seems rather murky.
But a bit of investigation reveals an interesting tale.

According to calendars used since the mid 18th century, Washington was born on February 22, 1732. This date consequently became the generally accepted date for observances of Washington’s birth.Public celebrations for George Washington's birthday actually predate his term as president, and were originally intended to honor his service in the War for Independence. By the early 19th century, Washington's Birthday had taken hold in the American experience as a full-fledged national holiday.

Its traditions included Birthnight Balls in various parts of the country, speeches and receptions and revelry in taverns throughout the land.

The story of Washington’s life was widely taught and legends about Washington began to grow. Then, Abraham’s Lincoln’s birthday, February 12, emerged as an important national event.

The birthday of our 16th President was first observed in 1865, one year after his assassination. But Lincoln’s birthday was never officially declared a federal holiday as Washington’s was even though Lincoln’s birthday was an official holiday in several states.

For decades, February was a grand month for celebrating Washington and Lincoln, our two greatest Presidents. Schools, stores, banks, libraries and other public locations were festooned with portraits of Washington and Lincoln. The profiles of both men were instantly recognizable and stories of Washington and the cherry tree and Lincoln the rail splitter abounded.

Then, in 1968 Congress passed something called the Uniform Holidays Bill which made Washington’s Birthday a Monday holiday. Starting in 1971, the third Monday in February became Washington’s Birthday. It’s been that way for 39 years now. But a funny thing happened along the way.

Washington’s Birthday somehow became Presidents Day. Nobody declared it. Nobody proclaimed it. It just happened. And that’s what the third Monday in February has been called even though the federal government still officially lists it as Washington’s Birthday.

The result is that we now have a day that stands for nothing.

Some people actually think Presidents Day honors the current president. Some people think it honors all the presidents. Some people think it honors their own favorite president or presidents. Some people think it’s just a shopping holiday. All those people are wrong, wrong, wrong!

And the sad part is that school children seem to be as confused as anyone else. If you ask a kid today about something as basic as Washington crossing the Delaware or the legend of the cherry tree he or she would probably respond with total bewilderment.And nobody seems to even understand how we got to this point. There has even been an urban legend that in 1971 President Nixon officially designated February 22 as Presidents Day. But it never happened.

So, here’s my solution. Let’s start celebrating February 22 as Washington’s Birthday again and give the father of our country his due. This means no disrespect to Lincoln or any other president. It simply recognizes the greatness of Washington and his paramount role in our history.

At a dinner honoring the centennial of Washington’s birth in 1832 Daniel Webster said that Washington’s legacy was nothing less than “the edifice of constitutional American liberty.”

It’s time to resurrect that legacy, acknowledge that edifice and restore George Washington’s rightful place in our national life.
