Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School
Community Garden (Corner of Lansdowne and Huey Avenues)
403 North Lansdowne Avenue
Drexel Hill, PA 19026 (Delaware County)

During the ceremony, school administrators including President John Cooke, will be joined by Pastor David Shaheen, Executive Director, Upper Darby Community Outreach Corp (UCDOC) and Stacey and Sean McNicholl, owners and operators of Greenhorn Gardens and lead creators of the community garden.   Upper Darby Mayor, Thomas N. Micozzie, will also be on-hand to participate.

When students at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast return to school in September they will have the opportunity to begin volunteering in the garden, which will be located at the corner of Lansdowne and Huey Avenues.  In addition to students and community volunteers benefiting from the garden’s harvest, vegetables will also be donated to the Aid for Friends at Saint Vincent dePaul Society Food Pantry located at Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Darby (Delaware County).

Mr. and Mrs. McNicholl, are sustainable-agriculture advocates. For the past six years they have been practicing the art of urban farming on small-scale diversified plots of land throughout the township. They approached Pastor Shaheen from UCDOC with the idea of a community garden in Upper Darby.  He then connected them with Dr. Cooke at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast and the community garden planning and site development was implemented.
