But I remained troubled by Newt Gingrich's apparent recklessness both in his personal and professional life. The grandiosity seems to mimic Obama. The recklessness (and sometimes erratic behavior) seems to mimic Clinton. NOT a good combination in my mind.Dan Ciruccihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362893049097966904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7458724113457799001.post-6055139286204208262012-01-21T18:20:09.066-05:002012-01-21T18:20:09.066-05:00I feel compelled to sound a note of caution when i...I feel compelled to sound a note of caution when it comes to Newt. I do think it's telling that Reagan barely mentioned Gingrich in his diaries -- as Romney noted. Newt's peripatetic behavior, self-absorption and (sometimes) recklessness are legitimate cause for concern. I watched the GOP destroy itself at the hands of zealots once (in 1964) and I know how dangerous ideologically-indiuced bloodlust can be. So I must pause and say" "Careful . . . . careful!"Dan Ciruccihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362893049097966904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7458724113457799001.post-3427126499058816132012-01-21T14:33:39.286-05:002012-01-21T14:33:39.286-05:00Dan, I also need to address one more point. Why do you (and others) accept what Gingrich's ex-wife says as gospel and ignore him when he says they are lies and offers their friends and his daughters who stand behind him. Why do you accept the word of a woman who seeks vengence, who has said that she can distroy him with one TV interview and who met with an undercover agent and asked for $500,000 to influence her then husband?jerry steinhoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10914321209151894320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7458724113457799001.post-86061049808820419742012-01-21T14:24:38.792-05:002012-01-21T14:24:38.792-05:00Dan, this is the first time you have disappointed ...Dan, this is the first time you have disappointed me! You too, have hit the Cool-aide! Gingrich is the guy who helped bring the Republican party back with the "Contract with America." He worked with Reagan to bring rapid economic change and he was even able to work with Clinton to bring change and welfare reform. He "helped" make the economic growth possible which lead to a balanced budget for four straight years. How dare you compare Gingrich to Obama. Yes, both have a big ego, but that's where the similarity ends. Obama doesn't know how to lead and he doesn't understand what made America great. Gingrich knows how to lead and has demonstrated that he can and will get things done. Yes, he ruffled some feathers... a lot of feathers... to get things done and he made some enemies along the way. But, he was willing to do that to make things happen for our country. Isn't that what you want? Or, do you want someone who still defends Romneycare and changes whichever way the wind blows. And (et tu brute) now you are doing what we complain about when the main-stream media does it... taking things out of context!<br />I close by directing you to Reagan's son..."In endorsing Gingrich, Reagan said he believes Gingrich is the only candidate who can 'fundamentally change the course that Barack Obama has set for America.'" <br />"Newt exemplifies the conservative principles my father championed...<br />Strong national defense, lower taxes and smaller government... In the 90’s Newt's leadership brought us the Contract with America which changed Washington... I’m confident Newt can do it again... It's time to choose. Do we go forward with bold ideas or continue with failed policies?"
