But Sestak ja...You are correct on all counts, Josh.
But Sestak jas a top-notch media guy in Neil Oxman. Sestak is a down 'n dirty player who goes for the jugular and he could be hoarding his fough for an all out negative blitz in the closing days. Toomey better be ready.Dan Ciruccihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362893049097966904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7458724113457799001.post-6364134758820924152010-09-15T12:34:29.808-04:002010-09-15T12:34:29.808-04:00Maybe Toomey would have won anyway simply because ...Maybe Toomey would have won anyway simply because of the political environment. But I think Sestak's general election campaign strategy has been horrible.

Toomey got his first TV ads up in June and Sestak didn't get his first ads up until September. He let Toomey get a two-month head start on framing the candidates and the issues of the campaign. As you know, being a PR practitioner, if you let your opponents get their message out there first, you're going to be fighting an uphill battle because your customers (in this case, the electorate) already has been able to form a first impression.

If Sestak thought he could win the general election the same way he won the primary, that was his first mistake. PA Democrats were at best lukewarm toward Arlen Specter. They were waiting for a viable alternative to emerge, and all Sestak had to do was provide such an alternative.

That's not the case in the general. Both Pat Toomey and Joe Seatak began the campaign as relative unknowns outside of their parties and House constituencies. Whoever got their message out to the masses first was going to have a major advantage. And Toomey got his message out first.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09593093896643755523noreply@blogger.com
