Two More Democrat Officials Endorse Christie

Bringing the total number of elected Democrats standing with him in his reelection to more than 50, New Jersey Governor Christie today was endorsed by Palmyra Mayor Karen Scheffler and Palmyra Town Council President David Dorworth, both Democrats. The endorsement marks the nineteenth Democrat mayor to endorse the Governor and 51 total elected Democrats from across New Jersey.

"Over the last three and a half years, Governor Christie has delivered on his word to always put New Jersey and New Jerseyans first, making bipartisanship and results the hallmark of his service to our state. Our partnership with Governor Christie has been invaluable here in Palmyra, as we've worked together to find solutions to some of our greatest concerns," said Palmyra Mayor Karen Scheffler. "The Governor has demonstrated tremendous leadership through unthinkable crisis, forged principled compromise with leaders of both parties, and brought a refreshing ability to communicate both our challenges and progress to the people of our state.  Without a doubt, he is the person to lead our state for another four years and I am proud to endorse his reelection."

"Governor Christie has demonstrated tremendous leadership, having worked with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents to find broad-based solutions to our state's greatest needs, including balancing four budgets without raising taxes, while protecting programs and services for our most vulnerable. We thank Governor Christie for his partnership and we look forward to continue delivering real results for our residents," said Palmyra Town Council President David Dorworth. "It is because of his commitment to bipartisanship and his effective leadership and work with local officials in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy that I am proud to stand with him in this campaign."

Democrats outnumber Republicans in Palmyra, which was carried by President Obama in 2012 by an eighteen point margin and by former Governor Jon Corzine in 2009 by an eight point margin.

"This campaign - and these past three years - has been about bringing people together from both sides of the aisle to get real things done for the people of our state. Today stands as a testament to those efforts and as an indication of progress for our future," said Governor Christie. "I am proud of the many great accomplishments we've achieved through our partnership together and I am eager to continue our work together in the future. I thank the Mayor and the Council President for their support and for standing with me in this campaign and for the next four years."
