SJNPII is one of four CHCS senior housing communities that allow residents to remain active in their communities while enjoying comfortable, affordable apartment living.
This newly constructed building consists of 52 one-bedroom apartment units and a Wellness Center on a parcel of land adjacent to Saint John Neumann Place, which has been in operation since 2008 and represents the successful conversion of the former Saint John Neumann Catholic High School into 75 units of affordable senior housing.
The SJNPII development received a $12 million dollar tax allocation from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) for the development of additional affordable senior housing on the campus of the former Saint John Neumann Catholic High School in South Philadelphia and gave the development the award for Innovation in Design. In addition, SJNPII received assistance from the Philadelphia Housing Authority in the form of project based vouchers through the HUD Rental Assistance Demonstration program (RAD).
John Wagner, Deputy Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of CHCS said, “The opening of this building marks the culmination of a vision that began over a decade ago. The vision of this community has become a reality and this campus continues to be a vital part of the fabric of this neighborhood.”
