The majestic Colubus  Monument in  Manhattan was officially unveiled at the center of Columbus Circle with a ceremony on October 13, 1892, as part of the 400th anniversary celebration of Columbus’ voyage. A 14-foot tall marble statue of explorer Christopher Columbus stands atop a 76-foot tall granite column which is decorated with bronze projections representing Columbus' ships: the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María; Its pedestal features an angel holding a globe.
