Questioner: [regarding obamacare] Where in the Constitution?
Congressman Phil Hare: I don’t worry about the Constitution to be honest with you
Questioner: Jackpot brother!
Congressman Phil Hare: Oh, you know what I care more about, I care more about the people who are dying everyday who don’t have healthcare.
Questioner: You care more about that than the US Constitution?
Congressman Phil Hare: I believe it says we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Audience Member: That’s the Declaration of Independence
Congressman Phil Hare: That doesn’t matter to me! Either one….

What an interesting question. "You care more about that than the Constitution?"
It's not like anyone scores points by questioning the constitutionality of providing healthcare to people, but it makes you wonder whether the interviewer would consider saving lives of millions ordinary citizens if it seemed to contradict the Constitution.
Heavy stuff for Good Friday.
We keep rollin along, Radu. Great to hear from you. Hope all is well.
Radu,
The Constitution IS the law of the land. If I take the oath shown below then I am duty bound to "support and defend" it. If that means opposing a law, any law, that does harm to the Constitution then that law should not be voted for.
Your straw man question implies ObamaCare will be "saving millions of lives". If that were the case then between now and 2014, when ObamaCare is supposed to be fully implemented, millions will die.
Wow! You must be beside yourself with grief over the impending deaths of millions. What will you do?
The point is that the US Constitution IS the supreme law of the land. It's what has guaranteed my liberty and my father's liberty and for which he fought for in WW2. It is America's protection against tyranny imposed based on false crises and abstract questions about saving lives.
You target the interviewer for his question and ignore Hare's seeming contempt for his oath and
the Constitution. I don't get it.
Wait! I see! You're not really a dolt. No, you have that exquisite moral sense that us ordinary folks don't have. That makes you so special and able to
look beyond the mundane and see the big picture. It must be great being you.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
