Schieffer looks wise, steady and mature.
But we all know he is basically a liberal -- like most of the rest of the media.
Schieffer's reminder of the 50th ann'y of the Cuban Missile Crisis sounds like an intro into the whole "Romney as warmonger" notion. I hope not.
Romney is somewhat halting at the beginning but as he goes through country after country in the mideast he seems to be gaining. And now he congratulates the president on getting bin Laden but says "we can't kill our way out of this mess."
Obama: "We focused our attention on those who actually killed us on 9/11."
Obama now begins to defend himself on Libya -- and says he "organized an international coalition" to "get rid of a despot" in Libya.
And here goes Obama, to Romney: "You're strategy has been all over the map."
Romney says we need "more economic development; better education; gender equality and the rule of law" in these Islamic nations.
Schieffer: "But now let's give the president a chance."
And Romney shoots back: "A few months ago, you said Russia was the greatest threat to world peace." And then another shot: "I know you're not in a position to exercise foreign policy but every time you've offered an opinion, you've been wrong."
Obama: "We need strong and steady leadership; not reckless leadership."
Romney hits back hard: "Attacking me is not an agenda. It's not an apology." . . . On Russia: "I have clear eyes on this. I'm not going to tell Russia 'I'll get back to you after the election and I'll be able to help you.'"
Once again Obama is getting more time -- interrupting and hogging time.
Obama is out to paint Romney as unsteady and reckless and he's also trying to rattle him and get him to make a mistake.
Romney is out to remain steady and appear presidential.
So far, Schieffer is allowing Obama to eat up time and maybe to even dominate.
