On April 13th and 14th, 2013 -- Cherry Hill Firefighters planted 37 cherry trees along Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill, NJ.
In the past three weeks -- the last remaining 17 large shade trees were removed from Chapel Avenue and 37 cherry trees were planted to replace them! This year's effort completes Cherry Hill's cherry tree lined avenue! Today you can see two miles of continuous rows of cherry trees extending from Haddonfield Road to Kings Highway in Cherry Hill.
This idealistic quest took 40 years to achieve -- it occurred on the 40th Anniversary of the first cherry tree planting and the first Cherry Blossom Parade that occurred in Cherry Hill in 1973. Bravo to Joe Zanghi, the tireless, generous, public-spirited citizen behind this effort.
Joe says: "I would like to thank all of you that supported this effort throughout the years. Please take the time to visit the two-mile avenue of blossoming cherry trees in the coming weeks. The two mile avenue of cherry trees will be in peak blossoms very soon -- I am guessing sometime between April 22 through May 1, 2013. Don't miss them!"
