Celebrating the Garden State’s improved economic climate, Acting Governor Kim Guadagno today announced that Vineland-based Allied Specialty Foods, Inc. will expand in New Jersey and add 127 jobs to its workforce.
“Allied Foods has been a staple in Vineland for decades, and its expansion brings a new infusion of jobs and economic benefits to the region,” said Acting Governor Guadagno. “We are so pleased that they decided not only to remain in the Garden State but also to grow in the Garden State.”
Due to the company’s recent growth, Allied Foods’ executives began evaluating their real-estate options for relocation and expansion, including moving the facility to Delaware. In June, representatives from the Partnership for Action, including the New Jersey Business Action Center and Economic Development Authority (EDA), met with company executives to discuss the project.
In September, the EDA awarded Allied Foods a Grow New Jersey Assistance Program award worth an estimated $13.7 million tied to the creation of 127 new jobs and the retention of 70 at-risk jobs. The project includes the purchase and renovation of a 76,500-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Vineland.
“Allied Specialty Foods, Inc. has called the state of New Jersey home for more than 20 years and we are thrilled that it will continue to be headquartered in New Jersey for the next 20 years and beyond,” said Paul Litten, President and Operating Partner of Allied Specialty Foods. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to continue our existing dramatic growth through building and employee expansion efforts that are now able to be started. I would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to all of the members of the State and local government that helped with this project and have enabled us to focus on continued growth of our business.”
Founded in Philadelphia in 1956 as Allied Steaks, Inc., the company changed its name to Allied Specialty Foods, Inc. in 1999. Allied Foods produces and supplies USDA-approved thin-sliced steak and chicken products for restaurant operators and retail outlets in the United States. The company’s products are used in steak-based entrees or side dishes, including the famous Philly Cheesesteaks.
