Following Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s pledge to veto a bill that would allow schools to lay off teachers based on classroom performance instead of seniority, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Megan Sweeney released the following statement.
“Tom Wolf is proving once again that he’s more focused on his re-election campaign than actually governing Pennsylvania,” Sweeney said. “Pennsylvania’s kids deserve the best education possible from the best teachers possible, but Tom Wolf has promised to single-handedly stop that from happening. In Tom Wolf’s view, it’s more important to appease his liberal special interest benefactors than ensure our students have the best chance of success. If Tom Wolf vetoes this commonsense measure to protect Pennsylvania’s best teachers, he will once again demonstrate a failure to lead our Commonwealth.”
