Cherry Hill Mayor Dave Fleisher announced today that for the first time in more than a decade, Cherry Hill Township will host an Independence Day celebration and fireworks show this summer. The mayor sees it as a chance to unite the sprawling community for a family-friendly celebration that everyone can enjoy.
“I am pleased to be able to deliver for our community the opportunity to come together to safely celebrate Independence Day,” Fleisher said. “With music and entertainment, delicious food from local businesses and an exciting fireworks display, this year’s celebration will unite us and create lasting memories for our children.”
Taking place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the Michael J. Santarpio Field at Jonas C. Morris Stadium at Cherry Hill High School West, the celebration will begin in the evening with live entertainment, music and food from local vendors. At dusk, a professional fireworks display will light up the sky.
"Celebrating America's birthday with fireworks is a time-honored tradition that I am pleased we're bringing back to Cherry Hill," said Council President Bill Carter. "My colleagues on Council and I support the mayor's commitment to bringing our community together through events and activities like this and are looking forward to a happy and safe Fourth of July holiday for all."
Planning is currently underway for the event, and the Township will release additional details in the late spring and early summer. The Cherry Hill Police Department is assisting with logistics to ensure the safety and security of all guests as well as residents around Cherry Hill High School West. The Township will also implement strategic traffic measures aimed at minimizing disruptions to neighbors.
