From Flash News:
Transformers may be a boyhood staple, but women are the biggest fans of the morphing robots.
So says Brian Savage, organizer of BotCon, the largest annual Transformers convention happening in Pasadena, California, this Thursday (May 28) through Sunday (May 31).
Collectors from around the world will gather to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Transformers and the summer movie release of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, and Savage says the most devoted fans at the event will likely be ladies.
Not only do women collectors show up with toys in tow, they often come decked out in homemade Transformers costumes that actually transform into cars or robots.
Savage says the “adamant” fangirls share crafty costume tips with other collectors who quickly realize that the elaborate outfits are “not just a leotard and cape.”
Since many Transformers buffs already know each other from online chat rooms, Savage says the convention is like a “giant group hug” for the robot community, who are “emotionally attached” to the classic toys.
