Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's performance today was one of the most shameful spectacles we've ever seen.
What difference does it make?
A BIG difference.
It's the difference between life and death, between honor and surrender, between accountability and abandonment.
It's sort of like saying: "OK, so people died. Mistakes were made. So what? We slipped up. Juss fuhgeddaboudit. All we have to now do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again."
No, Madam Secretary. That's not enough. The American people deserve to know what really happened and why it happened. They deserve to know the facts. They need to know who's responsible for this. They need to know and they have the right to know because we still live in a democracy.
And this is the least we can do for the families of those who died.
And the Congress (under the Constitution) must find the truth as part of its oversight responsibility.
Besides, if we don't know what really happened and how it happened and what agency or department or person was responsible, how can we ever make sure "it never happens again?"
But what did we get today? Drama, Diversion. Deceit.
Those are the tools that demagogues use to evade responsibility.
