Globetrotters To Dribble Across Tacony Bridge Monday

Temple University grad Fatima “TNT” Maddox, the Harlem Globetrotters’ 9th female in 87 years, and teammate Brawley “Cheese” Chisholm, former star at Cherokee High School, will carry on a Globetrotter tradition and arrive to Philadelphia by dribbling and spinning basketballs across the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. Their arrival is in advance of four games in the Philly area from March 8-10.

They will start in NJ and finish at Planet Abacus Charter School where over 400 students will host a Globetrotters Pep Rally. TNT and Cheese will talk to the students about the team’s nationwide “ABCs of Bullying Prevention” program, which was developed with the help of the National Campaign to Stop Violence.

TNT and Cheese will dribble and spin PINK basketballs over the bridge to represent a season long campaign to fight breast cancer. The same PINK Spalding balls will be used in a part of every game this season.

The bridge arrival tips off “Globetrotter Week” in Philly, which includes community appearances and school assemblies. It will culminate with four games, including Wells Fargo Center (Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m.), Sun National Bank Center in Trenton (Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.), and The Liacouras Center (Sunday, March 10 at 5 p.m.). Tickets for all four local games are on sale now exclusively through ComcastTIX online atComcastTIX.com, by phone at 1-800-298-4200 or in person at each venue box office.

In 2012, Globetrotter star Flight Time Lang arrived to Philly via the Ben Franklin Bridge. Other bridge arrivals for the Globetrotters include the Golden Gate in San Francisco, the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges in NYC, and the Key Bridge in Washington, D.C.
