61st Elected Democrat Official Endorses Christie

Continuing to demonstrate significant bipartisan support from across the state and political spectrum in the final days of his campaign for reelection, Governor Christie today earned the endorsement of Jersey City Councilman, Democrat Michael Yun.

The endorsement marks the sixty-first Democrat elected official to support the Governor.   "In his first term as Governor, Chris Christie has provided for the people of New Jersey the leadership they deserve, bringing together elected officials from across the aisle to address our state's toughest issues and deliver real results. From success in capping our property taxes to supporting our children with the most school funding in history and reforms to improve education, Governor Christie is committed to inclusive, bipartisan governing," said Councilman Michael Yun.

"Governor Christie has stepped up for New Jersey over the past four years, and today, I am proud to stand up for him and support him in this campaign."  Jersey City, which was carried by President Obama in 2012 by 70 points and by former Governor Jon Corzine in 2009 by 57 points.   

"Earning the support of Councilman Yun in a place like Jersey City is a truly gratifying moment for me in this campaign. This endorsement stands as a symbol to all who are watching - across the state and the nation - that here in New Jersey, we stand up to partisan politics and that we put the people we represent first," said Governor Christie.

"I'm proud to have Councilman Yun join me in setting the tone for the next four years and I look forward to continuing to come together and deliver for New Jerseyans the leadership they deserve."

  To date, sixty-one Democrat elected officials have endorsed Governor Christie for reelection, including: State Senator Brian Stack, Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo, Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider, Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren, Belleville Mayor Ray Kimble, Bloomfield Mayor Ray McCarthy, Glen Ridge Mayor Peter Hughes, Livingston Mayor Rudy Fernandez, Paterson City Council President Anthony Davis, Burlington City Mayor Jim Fazzone, Manville Mayor Angelo Corradino, Chesilhurst Mayor Michael Blunt, Harrison Mayor Ray McDonough and Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long.

Also, Harrison City Council members Laurence M. Bennett, Jesus R. Huaranga, James Doran, Victor Villalta, Carol Mandaglio, Michael Dolaghan, Francisco Nascimento, and Anselmo Millan, Garfield Deputy Mayor Tana Raymond, Belleville Town Council members Steve Rovell and Michael Nicosia, Glen Ridge Council President Stuart Patrick and Councilman David Lefkovitz, Point Pleasant Borough Mayor William Schroeder, Spring Lake Mayor Jennifer Naughton, Spring Lake Council President Janice Venables, Spring Lake Council members Bob Drasheff and Priscilla Reilly and Union City Commissioners Tilo Rivas, Lucio Fernandez, Maryury Martinetti, and Celin Valdivia.

Cirucci served as Associate Executive Director of the Philadelphia Bar Association for nearly 30 years. He served as Chair of Penn State University's Professional Advisory Board for the Corporate Communication major at Penn State Abington and on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Judicial Selection Commission.

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include all things Italian, politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.

He and his wife Carole have two grown children and seven grandchildren.
