Today we hopped on the train to Manhattan for a viewing of Hollywood memorabilia that will be auctioned off at Bonham's on Monday (11-25) as part of TCM and Bonahm's What Dreams Are Made Of - A Century of Movie Magic.
We saw countless pieces of movie magic - scripts, posters, costumes, ephemera, photographs and personal items of stars, directors, artists and costumers. And these brought back memories of so many great movies including Gone Wit The Wind, Forrest Gump, Mildred Pierce, Batman and The Maltese Falcon.
This is a spectacular collection and it will remain on view on Saturday and Sunday.
Some of these treasures may never be seen by the public again. From the top photo, they are:
Original poster for Girl Shy.
Marx Brothers cell signed by Walt Disney.
Shirley Temple's uniform outfit from Poor Little Rich Girl.
Original poster from Swing Time.
Fred Astaire's smoking jacket.
Jack Nicholson's costume as the Joker in Batman.
Clark Gable's Rolex wristwatch.
The actual Maltese Falcon - considered the most valuable piece in the collection.
Tom Hank's uniform from Forrest Gump.
Costume from Planet of the Apes.
Joan Crawford's dress from Mildred Pierce.
Audrey Hepburn's chapeau.
Vivien Leigh's nightgown from Gone With The Wind.
Esther William's swimsuit from Million Dollar Mermaid.
