If Lenten drag shows (here and here) are not enough reason for prayer, then I don't know what is. Please join The Cardinal Newman Society in a Lenten Prayer Campaign, by adopting a particular Catholic school or college to pray for in the days leading up to Easter. Pray that Catholic identity is strengthened… or in some cases, restored! There's more information here, and you're encouraged to post the name of the Catholic college or school on this Facebook post. Please also pray for the family of Wyoming Catholic College professor Dr. Sean Lewis, whose two youngest daughters died in a tragic car accident. And for the soul of Bud Woltering, a great friend of Christ and The Cardinal Newman Society who died this week. Finally, please say a prayer of thanksgiving for Pittsbugh Bishop David Zubik, who issued a strong statement in support of the Catholic identity of Pittsburgh's Catholic schools. He has assured parents that the Common Core standards will not be used in his Diocese. Thanks also for the sober work of Pittsburgh Catholics Against Common Core. Yours in Christ, Patrick J.
