Why You Should See 'Million Dollar Arm'
Have you seen the movie Million Dollar Arm?
If you haven't, we recommend you run right out to see it -- now!
And take the whole family along.
This is a wonderful, inspiring, heart-warming story with real life lessons for everyone. And Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Bill Paxton, Alan Arkin, Lake Bell, Pitobash and newcomers Suraj Sharma and Madihur Mittal are all wonderful in their respective roles.
In this tale a sports agent stages an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball. The journey from dream to reality is funny, complicated, poignant, charming, sometimes surprising, occasionally wrenching and ultimately fulfilling.
It's all based on a true story about how two cricket players from India wound up being signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. In short, this is a cross-cultural story with plenty of heart and soul.
You don't have to be a sports fan to enjoy this movie. You don't have to like baseball. You don't even have to care very much about the burgeoning, global business that professional sports has become.
You can simply follow the story and the characters. That's all you need.
And isn't that what real Hollywood movie-making should be all about?
Bravo to Disney Studios and everyone involved with Million Dollar Arm.
It's the feel-good movie of the summer and an absolute winner for every demographic imaginable.
Go see it!
