Remembering One Of the Greatest Of The Greats!

He was zany.
He was daring.
He was wild.
He tore up the stage; shot right through the screen; electrified TV and radio and kept 'em laughing for decades.
He was a singer, a dancer, a cutup and a consummate clown. He was a writer, a director, a producer and a world-renowned philanthropist. His face was known to millions. His humanitarianism inspired millions more and gave hope to those who didn't know where to turn.
Either solo or appearing with the greats, he always stood out. He seemed to bring his own spotlight with him. He was that big a star.
He could be irascible, demanding, even insufferable at times. But he could also be a world-class mensch. And, always he was grandly talented and inimitable.
He was an American treasure admired everywhere and, indeed, celebrated internationally. The French viewed him as an auteur.
But to Americans, he was simply the one and only Jerry.
Jerry Lewis is dead at 91.
Jerry Lewis (born Joseph or Jerome Levitch (Depending on the source) was born March 16, 1926.

And yes, to repeat, he was was an actor, comedian, singer, film producer, film director, screenwriter and humanitarian. 

He was known for his slapstick humor in film, television, stage and radio. He and Dean Martin were partners as the hit popular comedy duo of Martin and Lewis. Following that success, he was a solo star in motion pictures, nightclubs, television shows, concerts, album recordings and musicals.
Lewis served as national chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and hosted the live Labor Day broadcast of the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for 44 years. 

Lewis received several awards for lifetime achievements from the American Comedy Awards, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Venice Film Festival, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
