Storybook Land is a wondrous land of fun for young children -- a beautiful place where storybook characters come to life. The whole place is built around classic children's tales and nursery rhymes depicted in a beautiful park like setting with 17 attractive, mostly gentle rides just for kids. Storybook Land is something rare and delightful in today's world -- a place where kids can be kids. And mom and dad and grandma and grandpa can join in the fun and even ride the rides as well. There's an old-fashioned train, a small rollercoaster, a grand carousel, tram cars, spinning teacups, vintage autos and so much more including Mother Goose, the Little Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe, the Three Little Pigs, Sleeping Beauty and other classics.
We spent part of this past Father's Day weekend at Storybook Land with our grown children and seven grandkids and we had an absolutely delightful time. Your single admission grants you full access and allows you to ride every ride as many times as you wish. The place is unhurried and rarely overcrowded and you won't be huckstered or pressured to spend additional money on junk (or junk food!) once you're inside the park. The place is not gargantuan, so it's not overwhelming for children. It's just about the right size and even if a child ventures slightly out of sight, he or she will never be very far away.
The success of Storybook Land (it's been in operation for 67 years!) is based on a simple, common-sense idea: young children do not need to be overwhelmed. Classic tales and old-fashioned fun are timeless. Thank heavens for that. It's so reassuring -- especially right now!
