Kanye, History, Hitler And The Holocaust . . .

We hate having to give this any attention at all.

But some things really must be confronted. And virulent, despicable antisemitism is surely one of them.

Sadly, there are still many people who harbor hate toward one group or another. Thankfully, few of them have the fame and fortune of Kanye. That, of course, gives him an added responsibility. So, when he uses his spotlight and his influence to disseminate the kind of poison he's spewing lately, he must be held to account and all reasonable, decent people must step forward and say, "Enough!" Which is why we join with the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League the Zionist Organization of America, the Republican Jewish Coalition and so many others in denouncing Kanye, his like-minded cohorts and all who welcome him and/or give him a platform.

Let's get this straight: There is nothing redeemable about Hitler or the Holocaust. Nothing! The mere suggestion of such is reprehensible. And Holocaust denial is so egregious that it is actually a criminal offense in several countries.

The Holocaust was Nazi Germany’s deliberate, organized, state-sponsored persecution and machinelike execution of approximately six million European Jews and at least five million prisoners of war, Romany, Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, and other victims. What sets this monstrous deed apart is that it used the power of the modern industrial state to engineer the annihilation of a whole race of people. It was mass-produced murder!

It's regrettable that this story must be told again and again; that these horrors must be resurrected; that these lessons never seem to truly sink in. But we stand with those who are forever vigilant about this as we wish our Jewish friends Shabbat Shalom and reiterate: "Never Again!"
