Yesterday was a very rainy day here in South Jersey. But that didn't stop an enormous crowd of people (parents and children) from turning out to hear a powerful message from Kirk Cameron as he promoted his book for children, As You Grow. Cameron presents a power values-based message for kids -- a patriotic, in God we trust message that stresses the ideals that made this country get.
So, naturally, the Cherry Hill Library went out of its way to disassociate itself from the event, taking great pains to point out that it was not a sponsor of the event and did not endorse the speaker nor the message. (For the record, Cameron went ahead and rented space at the library.)
These are the times we live in folks -- a local public library shunning a wholesome event that brings hundreds of parents and children to the library to learn about a best-selling book for kids -- an event with a renowned and accomplished actor, author, speaker and TV host. Sound controversial or off-putting to you? But remember, this is the very same library that sponsored a Drag Queen Story Hour for children!
