Naked again? It's OK.
You can walk about in public all you want and go about your everyday chores in your birthday suit in this town, if that's what you like.
It's just fine to be naked, anytime, anywhere, anyplace. And you won't be harassed or arrested or even seem terribly out of place.
That's because there are no laws against public nudity in San Francisco.
Walking around naked is legal in the city under most circumstances. If you are in the buff, police will not bother you unless you appear to be sexually aroused. Only then could you possibly be charged with lewdness.
In fact, a group of naked guys routinely roam the city freely and insist on their right to remain naked.
But now a member of the city's Board of Supervisors has proposed a law that would require naked people to at least put a cloth or other barrier under their butts if they take a seat in public. The argument is that this would at least be a bit more sanitary.
Under this law, failing to cover a public seat or going into a restaurant naked would carry a $100 fine for the first offense and a $200 fine for a second offense within a year. A third offense could bring a maximum $1,000 fine and a year's jail time.
The measure is still pending.
