Karin Phillips: A True Philadelphia Voice Is Silenced
Karin Phillips, a staple at KYW Newsradio as their community-affairs reporter, has died suddenly after a brief illness. She was 53.
Many of us in the public relations community have had the distinct honor of working with Karin over the years. She was a true Philadelphia original. She had a no-nonsense style about her. You knew when you were pitching a story to Karin, you brought your A-Game. That was the level of respect she had earned over the many of years of reporting community affairs. And it was well-deserved. The stories she reported on were the community pulse of the Delaware Valley.
If you heard her reports on KYW you knew you were listening to a local radio journalism star. Karin's distinctive style and her vast knowledge of the area's many civic, community, arts and cultural organizations made her the very best at what she did. Her distinctive, engaging style managed to squeeze a whole lot of information and a friendly voice into the brief news reports that are a KYW hallmark.
Karin was a consummate professional and a true joy to work with. She will be missed.
