“Governor Christie’s response to the devastation of Superstorm Sandy represents the type of leader the Governor has been and the strong leadership New Jersey needs to keep moving in a positive direction,” said Mayor William G. Schroeder. “His partnership with me and mayors throughout the shore region has enabled us to better serve our communities and meet the needs of our residents. Governor Christie has been a partner and leader for every part of our state, regardless of politics or party, in order to put New Jerseyans first. For that, I am proud to stand with Governor Christie and endorse him for reelection.”
Along with Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long and Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider, Mayor Schroeder is the third shore-area Democrat mayor to endorse Governor Christie for reelection.
“Communities like Point Pleasant Borough make me proud of the work we’ve been able to accomplish over the past eight months. The partnership we’ve built with Mayor Schroeder has made it possible to deliver results that serve his residents’ best interests,” said Governor Christie. “I am proud to have Mayor Schroeder stand with me as a symbol of a government working as it should – getting things done for the people we represent. That could not be more important than it is now, as we move through this period of recovery, rebuilding, and promoting our shore.”
To date, thirty-two elected Democrats have endorsed Governor Christie for reelection, including: State Senator Brian Stack, Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo, Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider, Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren, Belleville Mayor Ray Kimble, Bloomfield Mayor Ray McCarthy, Glen Ridge Mayor Peter Hughes, Livingston Mayor Rudy Fernandez, Paterson City Council President Anthony Davis, Burlington City Mayor Jim Fazzone, Manville Mayor Angelo Corradino, Chesilhurst Mayor Michael Blunt, Harrison Mayor Ray McDonough, Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long, all eight members of the Harrison City Council, Belleville Town Council members Steve Rovell and Michael Nicosia, Glen Ridge Council President Stuart Patrick and Councilman David Lefkovitz, and all four Union City Commissioners.
