The first female to serve in this role, Ms. Angelini will direct the Cathedral Basilica Choir and work to promote an authentic liturgical music formation at the Cathedral parish. In addition, she will coordinate liturgical music for the planning of baptisms, weddings, funerals and other sacramental celebrations at the Cathedral Basilica. Ms. Angelini will direct the Archdiocesan choir and oversee the Archdiocesan Boy and Girl choirs. She will also have responsibility for the liturgical music for Archdiocesan celebrations and supervise Archdiocesan liturgical music formation programs.

Dennis Gill, Rector of the Cathedral Basilica, said, “After an extensive international search, we are happy to announce that Charlene will continue her excellent ministry at the Cathedral parish in this new role. The pastoral dimension that she brings to this position stands out as a singular strength.”
Ms. Angelini, a Philadelphia native, comes to this position with 25 years of experience as a cantor and 10 years as a choral director. For the last 6 years, she has served as the principal cantor for parish and archdiocesan celebrations at the Cathedral. She also oversees the Cathedral’s “Basilica Music Academy.”
She has also served as Music Director at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish (Philadelphia) and substitute organist for various parishes in Philadelphia. She holds a Bachelor of Music in piano and vocal performance and has been featured in several television broadcasts as cantor at the Cathedral Basilica including the Papal Mass on September 26 and 27, 2015.
