“From the Paterson Great Falls, to the Pinelands Preserve, the landscape of our state would not be the same without the preservation efforts carried out by the National Park Service over the course of the last 100 years,” Senator Kean said. “I am pleased to see the Governor sign this law honoring the Park Service for protecting natural and historic treasures in the Garden State and across the nation.”

New Jersey is home to a number of national parks, recreation areas, rivers, trails and historical monuments; such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. All National Parks across the nation will celebrate the centennial by offering free admission from August 25 -28.

“There are more than a dozen exciting destinations around the state that are overseen by the National Park Service, and all will offer free admission next weekend,” Senator Kean said. “Whether you’re visiting the Statue of Liberty for the first time, or navigating a familiar historic trail, please join me in marking the centennial by experiencing all New Jersey’s national parks have to offer.”

The National Park Service has helped preserve more than 400 sites covering more than 84 million acres of land in every state, as well as Washington D.C., American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. In addition to national parks, NPS oversee historical sites such as battlefields, monuments and recreation areas.
