Governor Christie first visited the Rescue Mission in 2012 to call for the expansion of New Jersey’s successful Drug Court program with mandatory treatment for non-violent, drug-addicted offenders throughout all 21 counties. Since that time, he has heard countless stories about how Drug Court has helped people get their lives back on track. The Governor came back to the Rescue Mission in 2014 to announce the statewide expansion of the use of Narcan and in 2016 alone, there were 10,000 deployments of the drug that reverses the effects of an overdose.
