Team Comcast Youth Hockey Club will be sending two of its teams to USA Hockey’s National Championships in Amherst, NY, on Thursday, March 26 through Sunday, March 30. Individual team schedules are at USAHockey.com.
Team Comcast 16U (under 16 years of age) secured its bid to Amherst after winning both of its games against the Valley Forge Minutemen at the Atlantic District’s regional qualifier this past weekend. Shortly after, Team Comcast 14U (under 14 years of age) also secured its bid for the region by beating the North Shore Avalanche in a best of three series, two games to one.
Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Darien Hatcher coaches Team Comcast 16U and Pat Ferrill, Vice President of Flyers Skate Zone, coaches Team Comcast 14U.
Leading up to championship weekend, USA Hockey will seed the 12 participating teams in its bracket for the tournament. Of the 12 teams participating, each team represents a region of the United States. Team Comcast will represent the Atlantic District, where New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware also compete.
Team Comcast Youth Hockey Club spans five age divisions including kids between the ages of nine and 19. The Club prides itself on player development, both on and off the ice while maximizing exposure for players to higher levels of hockey. While accomplishing these goals, Team Comcast has helped its players to succeed in following their dreams to play Division I, III, and ACHA college hockey. Team Comcast has seen 47 of its players commit to division one college hockey programs within the last few years.
Team Comcast competes at Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone Pennsauken. Flyers Skate Zone is a series of community ice hockey rinks owned and operated by Comcast-Spectacor.
