Lynne Abraham is a true Philadelphia original.
She was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Germantown High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Temple University and (at a time when there were few women lawyers) a law degree from Temple Law School in 1965.
Her career reflects constant achievement, sound judgement, a love for the city and an unyielding commitment to serving her hometown.
She worked in the regional counsel’s office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and then served as executive director of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. From there, she served as a judge on the city's municipal court and later the Court of Common Pleas before being elected District Attorney in 1991. Abraham served as District Attorney until 2010.
She was the first woman elected to Philadelphia Municipal Court and the first woman to be elected District Attorney. If elected, she would be Philadelphia's first woman mayor.
No current candidate for mayor has been elected more times city-wide than Lynne Abraham. Her appeal to the voters is simple: She's smart, honest, fearless, hard-working, caring and fair-minded.
Her unique ability to take on difficult executive level tasks while retaining an unblemished record couples with her devotion to fairness and justice speak volumes about her character.
