Some friends of mine have been telling me that they find the Republican presidential candidates "Scary."
"Ohhhh . . . they're so scray. They're downright frightening!" That's what they're saying.
Well, here in the northeast that's often the prevailing mentality among self-appointed elites.
They've become so comfortable in their misguided beliefs (and, in their mind, so enlightened) that anything that doesn't fit their liberal/secular/abidingly permissive world view is simply "horrifying."
But the GOP candidates are not nearly as scary as what I see.
Here's what's really scary:
Three years of an economy with more than 13 million unemployed, a growth rate gasping around 2%, an historic credit downgrade and record underwater home mortgages. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Historic high fuel prices, creeping inflation, real income sliding downward, record bankruptcies.
These are the facts -- just a FEW of them. OK?
I'm quite alert to what's happening but fear that many of my friends are in an Obama-induced stupor. I want to shake them and scream: "Wake up!"
