Today, Chairman Val DiGiorgio released the following statement on Rep. Brady’s insensitive comment in an article published by the Philadelphia Inquirer about Philadelphia's March 21 special election:
“I’ve said for years that the Democratic Party takes black and Latino voters for granted, especially in our big cities. The leader of the Philadelphia Democratic Party proved this point. Congressman Bob Brady's statement that the ‘Latinos do not have their act together’ in the 197 legislative district was insensitive and shows Democrats believe they can win this race without a qualified candidate. By continuing to take these voters for granted, they are doing a disservice to our inner-cities. We intend to compete and are confident that our message of opportunity and job creation will resonate with the voters of 197th.”
