A Wake Up Call In NJ? Don't Bet On It!

So, The Governor of New Jersey has now admitted that nearly 7,000 non-citizens were registered to vote in the state through the MotorVoter program which allows people to register to vote when they get a driver's license. And, of course, New Jersey permits illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses. 

And, at least hundreds of these illegals have apparently already voted.

On top of that, the US Department of Homeland Security says that more than 35,000 non-citizens registered to vote in New Jersey and these are just the ones they know about. Imagine! All this while the State of New Jersey spent years telling us that the voting rolls were totally legit, devoid of any irregularities and squeaky clean.

Now, you'd have to agree that even one illegal vote is one too many and that it disenfranchises a legal vote -- a vote from some weary, overwhelmed New Jersey taxpayer (and there are legions of us) who plays by the rules.

New Jersey Republicans (such as they are) are justifiably outraged and are rightly demanding that the MotorVoter program be suspended if not downright sunsetted. And they are also insisting upon a complete and thorough independent audit and investigation. Good for them -- and they should not let up on this.

But, will any of this actually happen?

I doubt it.

Why?

First, because Republicans currently are a very distinct minority in the state -- as small a contingent as I could ever remember. They don't control any branch of government, and it's not even close.

Second (and correspondingly) Democrats predominate and routinely display the unbridled arrogance of power. They seemingly feel accountable to no one. They willingly ram through whatever budgets, taxes, regulations or onerous pieces of legislation they have in mind. And, they're enabled and encouraged by a brazenly partisan governor who has hallucinatory national political aspirations.

Third, there is no objective statewide media to speak of in New Jersey. Whatever pitiful collection of media, academia, and popular culture that exists in the state is relentlessly left-leaning. So forget about a fair accounting, let alone the truth.

Fourth, New Jersey's veritable one-party stranglehold has bred an inbred culture of corruption with endless tentacles and very deep roots. Case in point: in my lifetime, two United States senators from New Jersey have gone to jail. In fact, in the last half century, over 150 elected and appointed New Jersey public officials (the vast majority of them Democrats) have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to corruption and sentenced to prison terms.

Finally, the voters of New Jersey have apparently resigned themselves to this pattern of corruption, mismanagement, duplicity, mendacity and condescension. In fact, by all accounts they at least tacitly approve of it since they continue to elect Democrats and have even elected and re-elected the Democrat son of the one of the most disgraced and corrupt US Senators in history. Mind you, this is the norm in New Jersey, not the exception! This kind of thing has happened again and again.

Back to the latest imbroglio.

Will anything really be done about it? Will there be an investigation? An audit? An independent accounting? I certainly hope so. And I'll never say never.

But I'm not betting on it.

Sadly, I'm not sure all of this is even on the radar of the typical New Jersey voter and, in the end, it will ultimately be up to the voters to compel positive action. How I wish I could say otherwise but I have to give it to you straight, folks.

NJ, N'tl GOP Sue State Over Vote Violations

The New Jersey Republican Party has joined the Republican National Committee (RNC) in a lawsuit to prevent certain non-residents who have never lived in New Jersey from registering to vote and voting in the state’s elections.

Below is a statement on the matter from Republican National Committee Chair Joe Gruters:

“Democrats are allowing certain people who have never lived in New Jersey to vote in the state’s elections,” said RNC Chairman Joe Gruters. “The RNC is taking them to court to stop this unconstitutional scheme, protect lawful voters, and secure New Jersey elections.”

Background:

• The RNC, the New Jersey Republican Party (NJGOP), and Republican congressional candidate Michael McGuire sued New Jersey election officials for allowing certain non-residents to register and vote in New Jersey elections.
• This lawsuit challenges a New Jersey law that allows certain people who have never lived in New Jersey – and in some cases have never lived in the United States – to vote in state elections based solely on a relative’s prior residency.
• The RNC is suing to strike down this unconstitutional “never-resident voter” law and ensure only eligible New Jersey voters decide New Jersey elections.
• New Jersey’s Constitution requires voters to be New Jersey residents and state officials cannot expand voting eligibility beyond those constitutional limits.
• This lawsuit does not affect military members or overseas voters who previously lived in New Jersey, both of whom remain legally eligible to vote under state and federal law.
• This lawsuit builds on the RNC’s successful record defending voter eligibility requirements across the country, including a major victory in North Carolina stopping non-residents from voting and recent lawsuits challenging similar policies in Nebraska, Colorado, and Nevada.

legislature is going to be the party of elites who roll over, or the party of the PEOPLE OF NEW JERSEY. This is my third year in Trenton, and I'm becoming more convinced that the future of our party is populism. Not as a caricature, but a real return to common sense & logic of the actual majority: the common man. People are sick of being micromanaged by elites who think they know better. The elevated class that talks about everyday people instead of actually being one, or even listening to them. Rules for thee, not for me. LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE. Stop jamming 80/20 progressive issues down the throats and into the wallets of constituents when you are in the 20 for God only knows why. Give it to the people straight, no chaser. I know I don't want to hear about "kitchen table issues" from people who don't clean their own toilets. Regardless of where anyone lands on the political spectrum, I thought that was the most important takeaway from the debate. Get real with the people you represent. That's how you win hearts, minds, and elections.

Governor MIA During NJ Power Outages, Storms!

As thousands of New Jersey families remain without electricity following this weekend's severe storms, many spent the holiday weekend enduring extreme heat with no air conditioning, refrigeration, or, in some communities, even running water. Throughout the crisis, Governor Mikie Sherrill was largely missing in action and has yet to demonstrate the urgency the situation demands.

While local first responders, utility crews, emergency management officials, and municipal leaders continue working around the clock to restore power and clear storm damage, Republicans have urged the Governor's Office to declare a State of Emergency.

Such a declaration would help expedite resources, strengthen coordination between emergency agencies, provide access to additional mutual aid, and position New Jersey to seek federal assistance should the damage exceed state and local capabilities.

"Families are still sitting in the dark while Governor Sherrill sits on the sidelines," said NJGOP Chairwoman Christine Giordano Hanlon. "When tens of thousands of residents lose power during dangerous heat, New Jersey deserves decisive leadership, not silence."

"The Governor shouldn't have to be prompted by legislators to take emergency action," Hanlon continued. "A State of Emergency isn't about politics. It's about getting communities the resources they need as quickly as possible. Every hour matters when families are without electricity, air conditioning, refrigeration and, in many areas, even running water."

The New Jersey Republican Party thanks the thousands of utility workers, first responders, emergency management personnel, public works employees, and volunteers who continue working tirelessly under difficult conditions to restore power and keep residents safe.

"New Jersey's local leaders are stepping up. Our first responders are stepping up. Utility crews are stepping up," Hanlon said. "Mikie Sherrill should have been stepping up, too. Instead, she was nowhere to be found while New Jersey families endured a holiday weekend without power in dangerous heat.”
