Commemorating A VERY Special Centennial . . .



Saint Mary Roman Catholic School, in Schwenksville (Montgomery County) will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima during their annual May procession. During the event, several students from Saint Mary’s School will portray Our Lady of Fatima, the three Portuguese children to whom she appeared, and the “Angel of Portugal” to reenact the six apparitions.

Reverend Louis P. Bellopede, Pastor of Saint Mary Parish, will preside over the May Procession. In addition to the outdoor reenactment there will be a public recitation of the Rosary and a float blanketed with flowers carrying a statue of the Blessed Mother. The float will be part of a procession involving school children, clergy, parishioners, First Communicants, Confirmandi, and Members of the Legion of Mary. It will include devotional Marian hymns and a crowning of the Blessed Mother with flowers. The evening will conclude with a Novena for Our Lady of Fatima in the parish church.

Beginning in May 1917 the Blessed Mother appeared to three young children, Lucia, 9, and her cousins Francisco, 8, and his sister Jacinta, 6 in the small village of Fatima, Portugal during six separate apparitions. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of those appearances.
