Rittenhouse Square: Free Movie, Free Frozen Custard
Here's a special message from the Uwishunu campaign of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation:
In case you haven’t heard, Uwishunu is turning Rittenhouse Square into a pop-up outdoor movie theater this Saturday night, August 11 with our event, Uwishunu Presents a Moonlit Movie Screening in Rittenhouse Square.
The movie screening of Midnight in Paris begins at 8:30 p.m. but you’ll want to arrive earlier than that for some pre-movie fun.
First of all, you’ll want to make sure you get there in time to secure a primo seating spot on the lawn.
Because, if nothing else, this night is going to be a perfect night for a picnic and hanging out with friends in one of Philadelphia’s most beautiful squares.
But making sure you lock down good seating isn’t the only reason to get there early. We’re pretty psyched to announce that we’ve teamed up with Shake Shack and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to add another awesome component to the evening’s line-up: the Shake Shack Sunset Soirée at the PHS Pop-Up Garden.
From 7-9 p.m. this Saturday, August 11, Shake Shack will be setting up shop in the gorgeous PHS Pop-Up Garden (located across the street from Rittenhouse Square at 19th and Walnut Streets) to dish out free frozen custard to Moonlit Movie attendees.
The best part? The custard flavor is a special Fromage Blanc Raspberry Swirl — available in both cups and cones — working nicely with the Parisian theme of the evening. While you’re waiting for your ice cream to be served, you’ll be able to enjoy jazz tunes from Midnight in Paris being played in the garden.
PHS is opening their Pop-Up Garden with special evening hours for the event, beginning at 6 p.m. So be sure to book in some time to explore the garden early in the evening before you settle in at the square for the night.
And don’t forget that Rouge will also be selling delicious hot dogs, popcorn and lemonade from a curbside stand (pay as you go) outside their restaurant on 18th Street.
Excited yet? We know we are.
