Last Surviving Adult 'Lucy' Cast Member Dies

You may or may not remember her.
But she did play Lucy's friend on the famed I Love Lucy sitcom.
I Love Lucy ran on CBS-TV from 1951 to 1957 and it was the first sitcom to end its run at the top of the Nielson ratings.
During the 1953-54 season actress Shirley Mitchell played Lucy Ricardo's friend Marion Strong. She was Lucy's other friend and nowhere near as prominent as Lucy's best friend and cohort Ethel Mertz, played by Vivienne Vance.
Mitchell, 94 died of heart failure in Los Angeles earlier this week.
Besides being in I Love Lucy, Mitchell was also in a variety of other TV series and a few films. Some of her credits include: John Forsythe's secretary Kitty Deveraux on several episodes of Bachelor Father; neighbor Marge Thornton on Please Don't Eat the Daisies; Mae Belle Jennings, Kate Bradley's (Bea Benaderet) cousin, on Petticoat Junction; and Opal Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies. She also voiced Hanna-Barbera in "The Roman Holidays."
