'Lady Day' Returns For Final B'way Performances

After a one-week hiatus, six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald will return to Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill and begin the final four weeks of performances starting Tuesday, September 9th, 2014.

Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill will play its final performance on October 5th, 2014. The production will have played 193 performances upon closing. The schedule for the final weeks is as follows:

Tuesday’s at 8:00PM

Wednesday’s at 2:00PM & 8:00PM

Thursday’s at 8:00PM

Friday’s at 8:00PM

Saturday’s at 2:00PM & 8:00PM

Sunday’s at 3:00PM

Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill began performances on March 25th, 2014, and opened on April 13th, 2014. McDonald won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Play and sound designer, Steve Canyon Kennedy, won for Best Sound Design of a Play.

Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill recounts Holiday's life story through the songs that made her famous. 1959, in a small, intimate bar in Philadelphia, Holiday puts on a show that unbeknownst to the audience, will leave them witnesses to one of the last performances of her lifetime. Through her poignant voice and moving songs, one of the greatest jazz singers of all-time shares her loves and her losses.

Among the songs that are performed: “God Bless the Child,” “What a Little Moonlight Can Do,” “Strange Fruit” and “Taint Nobody’s Biz-ness.”

Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill is produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Jessica Genick, and Will Trice, who are joined by Ronald Frankel, Rebecca Gold, Roger Berlind, Ken Greiner, Gabrielle Palitz, Irene Gandy and GFour Productions.

About Dan Cirucci

He has been cited by Rush Limbaugh, quoted in the New York Times, featured at Real Clear Politics and Lucianne.com and interviewed on radio, TV and in social media.

He's Dan Cirucci, the founder and editor-in chief of the Dan Cirucci Blog, Matt Rooney's sidekick on Save Jersey's videocasts and one of the most widely honored public relations professionals in his field. He served as Chair of Penn State University's Professional Advisory Board for the Corporate Communication major at Penn State Abington and on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Judicial Selection Commission.

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.
