Acclaimed 'Psycho' Musical Headed To B'way

AMERICAN PSYCHO, the American premiere of a new musical based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, has set a new press opening . . . Taking advantage of a newly available date on the Broadway League’s calendar, the musical will now open 24 hours later, on Thursday, April 21 at 8 PM. Previews will begin as scheduled on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Based on Ellis’ iconic novel -- which celebrates the 25th anniversary of its publication this month -- AMERICAN PSYCHO has music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Supergirl,” “Looking,” “Glee”). Directed by Olivier Award-winner Rupert Goold (King Charles III), AMERICAN PSYCHO has choreography by Tony Award-nominee Lynne Page (La Cage Aux Folles). Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew) portrays the lead role of Patrick Bateman, and the cast also features Heléne Yorke (Bullets over Broadway, “Masters of Sex”) as Evelyn Williams, Patrick’s girlfriend; Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal) as Patrick’s Mother/Mrs. Wolfe; Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano (Next to Normal) as Jean, Patrick’s secretary; and Drew Moerlein (from the series “”South of Hell, ” making his Broadway debut) as Paul Owen.

Following a highly acclaimed, sold-out London run, AMERICAN PSYCHO brings its designer brand of style, sex and synthesizers to Broadway. Set in the excess of 1980s Manhattan, AMERICAN PSYCHO tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a young and handsome Wall Street banker who pursues his darkest American dreams. Patrick and his elite group of friends spend their days in exclusive restaurants, hot clubs and luxury labels. But at night, Patrick takes part in a more sinful indulgence, and his mask of sanity is starting to slip…

The cast of AMERICAN PSYCHO also features Krystina Alabado (Lazarus, American Idiot) as Vanden; Dave Thomas Brown (The Legend of Georgia McBride) as David van Patten; Jordan Dean (Shows For Days, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) as Luis Carruthers; Anna Eilinsfeld (Kinky Boots, Wicked) as Victoria; Jason Hite (Bare) as Sean Bateman; Ericka Hunter as Sabrina (Rock of Ages); Holly James* (AMERICAN PSYCHO’s London cast) as Christine; Keith Randolph Smith (Fences, King Hedley II) as Detective Kimball; Theo Stockman (American Idiot, Hair) as Tim Price; Alex Michael Stoll (West Side Story, Evita, If/Then) as Craig McDermott; and Morgan Weed (Next to Normal, Saved) as Courtney Lawrence. Also featured in the company are Brandon Kalm (American Idiot tour), Sydney Morton (Memphis, Evita, Motown), Anthony Sagaria (The Bad Years), and Neka Zang (Rock of Ages).

About Dan Cirucci

He has been cited by Rush Limbaugh, quoted in the New York Times, featured at Real Clear Politics and Lucianne.com and interviewed on radio, TV and in social media.

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.
