The “Soaring Six” and their instructors and families will depart for Washington, D.C. on the afternoon of Thursday, May 11th. Their busy schedule on the weekend of May 12th and 13th includes taking part in “Rockets on the Hill” on Friday, May 12th. During this event the young ladies from Our Lady of Calvary will have the opportunity to meet Congressional leaders and give a presentation on rocketry.
Our Lady of Calvary’s rocketry team is now recognized as one of the top 100 student rocket teams in the United States by aerospace industry leaders. The “Soaring Six” beat 736 other teams nationally to earn a championship spot. They are one of only four middle school aged teams in the competition, the only all-female middle school team, and the first Philadelphia team to make it to the finals.
