NJ, USA Coronavirus Cases, Deaths At A Glance

For New jersey, here is the latest breakdown of cases and deaths from the state tracking website. These figures do not include cases still processing nor questionable cases not yet definitively determined:

Bergen County: 6,187 with 189 deaths (16% of state total)
Essex County: 4,082 with 172 deaths (11% of state total)
Hudson County: 3,924 with 87 deaths (10% of state total)
Passaic County: 3,227 with 42 deaths (9% of state total)
Union County: 3,216 with 71 deaths (9% of state total)

Note that the top five counties listed above account for 55% of the state total.

Middlesex County: 2,950 with 80 deaths
Monmouth County: 2,354 with 58 deaths
Ocean County: 2,177 with 62 deaths
Morris County: 1,800 with 55 deaths
Somerset County: 833 with 26 deaths
Mercer County: 654 with 16 deaths
Camden* County: 556 with 8 deaths (1.5% of state total)
Burlington* County: 547 with 11 deaths
Sussex County: 267 with 9 deaths
Gloucester* County: 248 with 3 deaths
Warren County: 195 with 6 deaths
Hunterdon County: 189 with 2 deaths
Atlantic* County: 121 with 1 death
Cape May* County: 77 with 2 deaths
Cumberland* County: 54 with 2 deaths
Salem County*: 26 with 2 deaths

* These seven counties comprising South Jersey account for 4% of the state total.
Note: Another 3,935 positive tests and 14 deaths in New Jersey are under investigation to determine where the person resides.

And now here are the US case figures compared with New York State, New York City and New Jersey:

USA: 321,762 total cases

NewYork State 122, 031 (38% of the nation's total)

New York City 67, 551 (20% of the nation's total)

New Jersey 37,505 (12% of the nation's total)

About Dan Cirucci

Cirucci served as Associate Executive Director of the Philadelphia Bar Association for nearly 30 years. He served as Chair of Penn State University's Professional Advisory Board for the Corporate Communication major at Penn State Abington and on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Judicial Selection Commission.

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.
