Yo, Joe: Amendments to the Constitution ARE absolute and definitive. They are the law of the land. They cannot be overturned by the Supreme Court or undone by legislation. They can only be nullified by another amendment. For example, the 18th amendment outlawed the manufacture, sale and transportation of alcoholic beverages (aka prohibition). It took the 21st amendment to repeal this amendment.
