Charlie Kirk Assassination: Five Big Consequences

POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE!
"Events, dear boy, events."

The phrase is most famously attributed to the late British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan. It signifies that unforeseen and often uncontrollable circumstances ultimately shape political and historical outcomes. And, it reminds us that events do indeed have consequences.

While we cannot be sure of all of the consequences that will yet flow from the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk this past week, here are five that already seem to be emerging:

1) Charlie's legacy will live on and be strengthened in the years ahead. This is virtually assured on the heels of his Erika Kirk's heart wrenching comments last night. Take note:

To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die. It won’t. I refuse to let that happen. It will not die. All of us will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it. It will become stronger, bolder, louder, and greater than ever. My husband’s mission will not end, not even for a moment.

2) The conservative movement in America is now fully evangelized. For all intents and purposes, it is now a powerful, boundary-shattering creed with a  Judeo-Christian following devoted to the Gospel —  and Charlie Kirk is a martyr and its first saint. God, country and family are its trinity. This is VERY potent stuff. Any pol who is credibly fused to this — any leader in any realm, really — is now empowered.

3) J. D. and Usha Vance (both close friends of the Kirks) are among the primary beneficiaries of Charlie's legacy. They were with the family in its grief and escorted Charlie's remains on to Air Force Two. Charlie Kirk was integral in Vance's rise in national politics from the earliest days. Vance is a man of deep faith and fierce devotion.

4) Last night, Erika Kirk expressed her family's love for and commitment to President Trump. From the beginning, Trump embraced the Turning Point movement; he understood the power of young people; he believed in Charlie and, like Charlie, he also believed that a new generation of devoted conservatives could and would be created. Trump was right!

5) All of this is seismic. Tectonic political plates have now shifted and the repercussions will continue. And this is nothing less than ominous for a Democrat party that now appears to be godless, faithless, joyless and hopeless.

And, one more thing: don't underestimate the international impact of Charlie Kirk's assassination. Kirk had a world wide following.
