From Michael Coren in the Toronto Sun:
David Letterman is guilty of committing the greatest of all sins for someone in his line of business. Simply, he's not funny.
So instead he aims low and punches away at targets he knows will not or cannot fight back. And nobody is easier to mock and abuse than conservative, Christian, Republican Sarah Palin. Being the rough, tough sort of guy our Dave is, he takes no prisoners with the woman at all.
On his now colossally tired top 10 list last week he outlined why Palin was in New York. No. 3 was to, "finally meet one of those Jewish people Mel Gibson's always talking about," which is somewhat ironic in that Palin is massively pro-Jewish and supportive of Israel. But best of all was No. 2, "bought makeup from Bloomingdale's to update her slutty flight attendant look."
That's it Dave, you go for it. Call a woman a slut because she dares to be attractive and, most important of all, have different political views from yours. Fascinating in that in the same week you interviewed Howard Stern and refused to ask the man anything resembling a challenging question. Stern bored the audience silly with photographs of his most recent wedding. Perhaps Dave should have called the silly, under-dressed woman on Stern's arm a slut. There is, after all, far more reason to consider her as such than there is to think this of Sarah Palin.
If you doubt me, read what Stern himself has said about her and about their marriage. It would, though, be wrong to say. Nor would Letterman ever say it, because he knows Howard hits back and is as crude and cruel as he is. Best not to mud wrestle with such a person when you know that Palin refuses to get dirty.
Yet there is more. Obviously warming to the Palin bashing the well-known wealthy liberal Letterman opined that when the governor of Alaska went to a Yankees game her daughter got "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez. The daughter in question is 14 years old.
Todd Palin responded with, "any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."
Sarah Palin herself, the mom of this girl who so amuses Letterman, condemned the "comments about my young daughter and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter." She continued, "laughter incited by sexually perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood-N.Y. entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands -- that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"
Hollywood morality
Well said madam. Once again the most dysfunctional community in modern history, Hollywood, tries to define the morality of the mass of people who are too poor, powerless or busy working to make their voices and their objections heard.
In a healthier world the pale, petty Letterman would have to defend his actions to Todd Palin and they would settle the matter as men. Not going to happen. Dignity, courage and respect are not on Dave's top 10 list and, anyway, to be a man one has to first act as such.

Letterman is a deranged slob- and his tired 1985 schtick’s about as funny as a train wreck. I say give Todd Palin five minutes alone with this creep- maybe then he’d get the hard education in moral clarity that he so obviously lacks.
And if Sarah Palin is SO silly and irrelevant, why the obsession?
Clearly the Left noted her appeal, and are out to eliminate the threat- it’s not like it’s not obvious. She’s been highly successful in life while ignoring the left-wing feminist model… this helps to explain the extra dose of venom in the attacks.
Go get em, Sarah- and don’t mind the press, nobody will be listening to them anymore after the pending Obamamania implosion- can't wait til this nightmare is over.
