That Gallup Poll that came out yesterday should have Democrats VERY worried.
If the numbers hold up, this could be a game-changing election -- an election of truly historic proportions.
John Fund has a great column in the Wall Street Journal where he quotes repected political commentator and writer Michael Barone.
Barone says "a Republican House majority the likes of which we have not seen since the election cycles of 1946 or even 1928" may be on the horizon. And Barone adds that the historical parallel "might no longer be 1994, when the GOP gained 54 House seats, but 1894, when Republicans gained more than 100 House seats in the middle of the economic downturn that engulfed Democratic President Grover Cleveland."
It's still hard to imagine this happening.
And we shouldn't really let ourselves believe it -- not really.
But Fund and Barone are hardly lightweights. And Gallup (an organization that retains a high degree of respect) is no newcomer to political polling.
