Brian Aitken was convicted and sentenced to 7 years in prison for carrying two handguns in his trunk while moving to a new apartment in New Jersey.
His lawyer says the case is a "perfect storm of injustice."
But prosecutors insist the law is the law.
A two and a half day trial in August, a jury convicted Aitken of the charges and a judge sentenced him to 7 years in prison. So family and friends have launched a grassroots campaign to set him free, even appealing to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for a pardon or reprieve.
