The Young Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a lively group of young professionals and art enthusiasts, will host the 21st-annual Rodin Garden Party on Friday, September 28, 2012, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. The evening will celebrate the completion of the Rodin Museum and garden rejuvenation project, which restored the building and grounds in the spirit of the original 1929 design. To honor this accomplishment, the Young Friends’ annual event will be a flapper-era bash inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel, The Great Gatsby.
400 guests are expected to attend this consistently sold-out party, which this year, promises to be the "bee's knees,” complete with all of the trappings of the 1920s, including speakeasy-style drinks and dancers from “The Brat Pack” performing the Charleston and Quick Step. Breezy summer cocktail attire in the spirit of Nick Carraway and Daisy Buchanan is encouraged.
A pre-party will kick off at 6:00 p.m. for V.I.P. attendees, who will receive exclusive benefits including a cocktail reception, private guided tour of the newly-reinstalled galleries, and other luxury surprises. The main party will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., featuring sumptuous hors d'oeuvres, 1920s-inspired libations, and several raffle packages including opera tickets, shopping experiences, and private Pilates instruction.
After hosting the previous three Young Friends Garden parties in the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building during the Rodin Museum’s renovation period, event co-chair Jay Park states, “We are thrilled to be back at the Rodin Museum. The amazing work by the planning committee and the support of our generous sponsors will undoubtedly result in a spectacular night.” Park, a resident of Havertown, PA, is co-chairing the party with Jacqueline Cassidy, who resides in Springfield, PA.
Funds raised through this event support the Young Friends’ mission of art acquisitions, conservation, and preservation of works in the collections, as well as education and outreach programming.
V.I.P. tickets are $65 for Young Friend members and $85 for public. Advance tickets are $40 for Young Friends, $60 for public (and must be purchased prior to September 17th at 5:00 p.m.). Groups of four or more may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $50 per person. Please remember all guests must be at least 21 years of age.
