Bernie Parent Honors College Hockey Standouts

Bernie Parent, a two-time Stanley Cup and Vezina Trophy winner with the Philadelphia Flyers, will assist in the presentation of the inaugural Mike Richter Award at 11:30 a.m. (ET), on Friday, April 11 at the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The Mike Richter Award, annually honoring the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men’s hockey, will be presented by its namesake, former University of Wisconsin and New York Rangers netminder Mike Richter.

Parent played 13 NHL seasons with the Flyers, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs. He backstopped the Flyers to Stanley Cups in in 1973-74 and 1974-75, winning the Vezina Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy both seasons. Parent was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984 and his jersey No. 1 is retired by the Flyers.

Growing up in the Philadelphia area, Richter grew up idolizing Parent.

Clay Witt Northeastern Junior

The finalists combine for a 2.07 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and a grade-point average of 3.23.
