As Tonys Approach, 'Guide' Sets The Pace

As the Tony Awards approach this Sunday it's worth reviewing the nominees once again.
The Broadway musical A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder leads the pack with 10 Tony Award nominations. It's a safe bet that 'Guide' will garner the most awards, including best musical.
Gentlemen's Guide is followed by Hedwig and the Angry Inch with eight nominations. After Midnight, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, The Glass Menagerie and Twelfth Night all received seven nominations each. Rocky, The Musical garnered four nominations.
Look for the LBJ civil rights era drama All The Way to run away for the top award for best drama and for its star, Bryan Cranston to win for his compelling performance as Lyndon B. Johnson. Also, it's a safe bet that Hedwig and the Angry Inch will win Best Revival of a Musical while the race for best actor in a musical will be neck-and-neck between Jefferson Mays (Guide) and Neil Patrick Harris. Cherry Jones should win for best actress in a play (Glass Menagerie) while the race for best actress in a musical is wide open, though we'll give the edge to -- well, we just don't know. Stay tuned!
